Maple Grove Ambassador Float Wins Prestigious Award

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

The Maple Grove Ambassador Float "Dare to Dream" won the prestigious Presidential Award at the Minneapolis Aquatennial Torchlight Parade on Wednesday, July 19. This is the third win in that category, two of them consecutively. The float was constructed in 2000 and has won many other first-place awards for its detailed and distinctive design. Adorned with hundreds of glittering locust leaves, 'Dare to Dream' depicts the true strength and growth of Maple Grove, highlighting Main Street with bronzed street lights, a fanciful tree house, and a wooden bridge that crosses from wetlands to flower-filled meadows.

The Ambassadors, families and committee work diligently to keep the float in tip-top shape for nearly 50 parades and special appearances annually. Adding their beauty and grace to the float in this year's Torchlight Parade was the newly crowned 2006 Miss Maple Grove, Korbin Kvaas, and the 2005 Maple Grove Ambassadors Erin Brunner and Nicole Lepinski. Miss Kvaas will be joined by 2006 Ambassadors Stephanie Plant and Gillian Key for community events, parades and volunteer opportunities throughout Minnesota this upcoming year. The float is driven by the legendary, Dave Zapf of J. Cousineau's.
